“We All Have a Vice” a Poetic Reflection

Where Poetry tumbles like water through wild stone and silence in white text over green background and a man with blue flowers for a head

Original poem by : Axton N.O. Mitchell

“Vice”

I just want to smoke a little

pot.

Don’t tell me you forgot.

It’s all I’ve really got,

to get me through each day.

Oh no don’t look at me that way.

You can have your nicotine

to choke down your frown.

Alcohol, each and everyday,

never skipping the fix.

Not even on your day of praise.

Caffeine keeps you going.

Fear you’d never make it in

without your cup of Joe.

But who’s to know.

The chemicals in your prescribed

Medicine you cannot even

pronounce.

What the heck?

Do you know what

they can cause?

Yet you trust they keep your

body in

check.

 Judging me for rolling

up a grass.

Weed grows

 straight from the earth.

In case you weren’t aware.

What a joke.

Seems like you could use a toke or two.

Lighten up we all have a vice.

Give yours up,

then judge me

or, you breach hypocrisy.
