Poeaxtry_’s Words & The Spill Newsletter:

Poetry

These are not just poems, these are pieces of me I left behind so others could find themselves.

This is where the wild wind speaks through rivers of grief, petals of resistance and roots grown deep in memory. Through words waiting to be written.
Here resides a living archive of poems shaped by storms, softened by moss, and lit by the quiet fire of becoming.

Discover poetry that navigates the intersections of transgender experience, natural connection, and resistance against oppression.

Each piece offers a unique perspective on survival, transformation, and finding beauty in the struggle.

Hiking Journals

These aren‘t your typical trail guides. Each entry combines several elements.

• Real, unfiltered experiences on the trails.

• Personal reflections on grief, mental health, and finding joy.

• Honest accounts of hiking with me.

• Rock hounding discoveries and fossil finds.

• Photography from multiple states (Ohio, Kentucky, WV, Indiana, Michigan, NC).

• The emotional journey alongside the physical one.

• Accessibility ratings, notes, or comments when available for those who don’t thrive on rugged hikes.

• Video footage, photography, & virtual hikes for those who can’t make it for whatever reason.

Emotional Journals

Welcome to the mess I don’t clean up, or plan to ever.
Where I keep the rusted parts of me:
unusable

unhealed

bitter

and soaked in salt.

This part of me leaks rage soaked in grief

unfiltered

and

always bleeding.

The love that curdled and the hate I never apologized for.

Not tied up with a ribbon; Not made for comfort.

The truth that is sometimes too jagged to pretty up for poems.

Poeaxtry & the Prism Name Change

Behind the Original Name and the Inevitable Change

Poeaxtry’s Poetry Prism began as a celebration of the layered nature of poetry in everything I create. Digital collections, physical pieces, or spiritual products all reflect depth and emotion, like a prism does light. Before I launched Poeaxtry by Axton, I knew community was the heart of it. With community came other creative mediums beyond poetry.

The new era, Poeaxtry and The Prism, embraces all forms of creativity. Poetry, prose, visual art, handmade craft, and more, while keeping poeaxtrypoetryprism for our website and emails. This honors what already works while opening the door to every medium. So every voice, every story, every vision remains centered.

Community Collabs

Here in the prism, we build loud things together through joy, suffering, and all the in-between.

Here, misfits and the end of forced politeness find a home in collective collaborative projects curated by Axton N.O. Mitchell.
Axton’s main focus is on getting the voices of marginalized people heard through each new project he creates. Some projects are also open to supporter contributions.

Respectful individuals are always welcome to follow the process.

✨

Submissions are always being taken through emailing poeaxtryspoetryprism.blog/ and form for the next community collaboration

Update – April/2026:

To maintain long-term reliability and cohesion within this indie publishing house, I am moving away from a rigid quarterly schedule. I know things have been changing ad rearranging but that’s how creative operations grow.

At first I had planned to take themed submissions, so no one was excluded because of what they chose to make art from. Then using the submissions from the first two themed collections and an array of submissions not on theme I planned to make the first few Quarterly’s and go from there.

However I know I don’t have to tell you that the state of the world is wearing me down… If you couple that with burnout and the whole circus that is operating as a one-person creative vision. You’ll see what I have learned too….

These things require a sustainable pace to prevent burnout and ensure every project gets the attention it deserves.

Submissions & Collaborative Projects:

Though I do want to mention and stress that the door remains open for first come first serve free solo publishing for minorities as well as my willingness to publish & submit to your community-driven work.

All existing submission forms are active and monitored. I am still here to help get marginalized voices heard through:

  • Solo Publishing: Finished literature, poetry, or visual art seeking help with formatting, compiling digital collection, visuals, editing, help hosting, and spotlighting on my site.
  • Small-Group Collabs: Projects built by you and your peers looking for a publishing partner. As well as being available to submit to your collections per need.
  • Independent Concepts: Collaborative ideas you want to run with me, run through Poeaxtry, or co-develop.

Future Collections:

Large-scale community collections are still very big part of the mission; they will now be released on a flexible timeline as capacity allows.

If you see “Quarterly” mentioned on posts or pages, please note that those forms are still open and have been updated to this open-call model.

There is a time and a place for everything, you just have to know when it is your time. The path is lined with trials and errors, as long as you are willing to adjust for change you too can thrive.

Your honest voice is valued here.

Praise, questions, critiques,

I invite you to share your perspective. Every view helps these pieces grow.

all are welcome.

Whether you loved a piece, felt unsure, or saw something differently,

Request a free digital copy in exchange for your honest review by emailing poeaxtry@gmail.com or filing out this form.

Built for Voices:

that are often spoken over, polished beyond recognition, filtered, or ignored. Those of us who get told no when publishing because our lives don’t tell a tale they wish to sell. This is a space for minority creatives, creation, & advocating. Never gatekeeping.

Poeaxtry by Axton:

  • Minority-led & Advocacy-driven.
  • Offers Oppertunities for free Publishing or Submissions
  • Where Your Art & Voice Stay YOURS.
  • Community & Care Centered
  • Allies welcomed and considered for submissions when fitting

Join an Open-minded and Welcoming Creative Community here through our discord, contests, submissions, open Mic Nights, and more. You’ll find ways to read & view more indie art and lit. Along with ways to support others in the community, submit to open calls, provide or offer critics, and so much more.
