Top Surgery. Featured in Forever With Pride E-Magazine

I know you’ve been patiently waiting to see what I submitted for my second-month feature in

    Forever With Pride E-Magazine 🌈

    And let’s be honest here

me posting things on time? Rare. Mythical, even. Unless I pre-schedule (which happens once every solar eclipse or blue moon), expect delays. But the good stuff? Worth the wait. Or so they say.

This month marks my second feature in what will be a year-long creative partnership with Forever With Pride, an incredible UK-based e-magazine that uplifts LGBTQ+ voices from around the world. The magazine is packed with queer art, poetry, interviews, affirmations, and stories that remind us we’re not alone—ever.

🖤 You can read the full July issue here:

💌 While you’re there, add your email to the mailing list and get the next issue dropped right in your inbox every month.

    As for this month’s contribution…

Make sure to flip to page 9 to find my new poem:

“Top Surgery” – written in June 2025.

This one’s intimate. Honest. Carved from real memory and reclaimed power.

It’s about transition, relief, and remembering.

These kinds of features mean the world to me but, not just because I get to share my words,

but because trans stories belong in print.

Trans stories deserve celebration, not just survival.

And I’m honored to be one voice among many in a publication doing just that.

Aside from that my core values always go back to simply sharing the voices of minority communities and giving everyone room to be their own voice.

Let me know what you think, and maybe share it with someone who needs to read it or who would enjoy a queer focused e magazine

Published: The Men Who Are Trans + My First Feature in Forever With Pride

This journal entry marks the beginning of something I’m genuinely proud of.

My poem The Men Who Are Trans has been published in the newest issue of Forever With Pride. It appears alongside a feature article. The article dives into my creative work, my love of poetry, zines, and even a little nod to rock hounding. This piece is more than just a publication. It marks the first month of a yearlong partnership with the magazine. I couldn’t imagine a better way to begin.

This poem, in particular, is tender and rooted. It’s a quiet thank-you to the men like me. These are trans men who remember what it’s like to be hurt by someone who was supposed to love them. They use that memory as a guide for how to love others with care and intention.

The simps who brood over you while staring at the moon.
    They forget to text you
    back while writing verses
    about their favorite muse,
    You.

The feature article introduces readers to my broader body of work. It includes my handmade items, prompt journals, and e-books over on Etsy. It also shares my deep love for nature and ritual. Additionally, it highlights the thread of advocacy that runs through everything I create. It’s rare to find a publication that understands you completely. They see you not just as a writer, but as a whole, layered person. Forever With Pride does just that.

I’ll be contributing to Forever With Pride every month for the next year. I’m excited and honestly a little emotional. I’m thinking about where this journey might go. Thank you for being here. Whether you’ve been reading my work for a while or you just found me through something here, it means a great deal to me. Your support matters greatly.

Spill: Letters from Poeaxtry, Volume Three Turns Out They Like Sad Trans Poems After All

    Newsletter Vol. 3 — May 12th, 2025

The One Where I Got Published… Thrice.
Dear reader in the wilds of the prism,
You know those months where you blink and suddenly your inbox goes from “we regret to inform you” to “we’d love to publish your work”?
    Yeah. That happened.

In the past few weeks, I’ve had three poems accepted, two rejections (because balance, of course), and I officially partnered with Forever with Pride which is a UK-based queer e-magazine and online store that actually gives a damn about uplifting trans and minority voices.

It’s been a surreal stretch. Not in the dreamlike, float-above-your-body kind of way. However, more like I tripped into a publishing alley and somehow hit three bullseyes with a busted pen and a pocketful of trauma.
    So naturally, I’m celebrating.
    Well, WE are celebrating

Whether you’re new to my work or have read me sobbing through syllables since the beginning, this is for you. These pieces were written between hormone shots and grief spirals, in hospital parking lots and on trailheads, with shaking hands that still wrote anyway.
Publishing feels weird when you were never sure you were even allowed to speak.
But here I am. Still writing. Still showing up. Still turning my story into spell work and eBooks stitched from leftover bravery.

Maybe you’re reading this because you’re one of the ones who believed before I ever had a byline. Maybe you’re new and wondering why this trans guy keeps mailing you metaphors about dirt and ghosts and gender. Either way I’m damn glad you’re here.
    This is just the beginning.
That I know is a fact.

Community, Submissions, and the Power of Voice

The Prism Discord is growing — and so are the projects.
If you’re looking for a place to share your work, connect with other creatives, and find opportunities to get published, come join us.
Right now, we’ve got two major submission calls open:

Voices for the Voiceless — an ongoing eBook project highlighting art, poetry, and essays from marginalized voices in the aftermath of the 2024 election. Open to BIPOC, queer, disabled, immigrant, trans, and allied creatives. Submission cap? None for visual art, 10 for poems, and 2 essays. Deadline? September 2 (for now). The Joy They Cannot Erase a trans masc and nonbinary masc-centered collection that will become a full eBook project. Open to those who identify across the masc spectrum. More details, prompts, and themes coming soon but it’s already in motion. Looking for solo pieces and bros who want to go all in on one piece.

Got a piece that fits? Submit it. Got questions? Come ask in the server. Just want to read and vibe? You’re welcome too.

We’re building something honest, weird, and inclusive one poem, one eBook, one voice at a time.

Now that’s out of the way have a goood day!

    Until next spill,
    Where the wild things write.
    Where silence softens.
    Where stories spill.

With ink, bruised knees, and gratitude,
    Axton N. O. Mitchell
