The Essence of Poeaxtry & The Man Behind the Brand

Meet Axton N. O. Mitchell:

Hello readers, critics, and fellow Earthlings,
I am Axton N. O. Mitchell. A poet from Ohio, exploring the intersections of gender identity, politics, grief, and nature. My words echo from my journey as a transgender man
& as a son grieving the loss of his mother. I had to learn to be a man without a father & without direction. I am a wordsmith fighting for the voices of minorities to be heard.

Through Poetry I connect the world around me.

When I am not writing, you can find me outside. I sometimes will be writing out there too. Or camping, hiking with my dog, Luna, look for me in nature. I find calm in the wild, which in return inspires my work. We all know the starving artist niche includes artists who use words. That said, I do work a lot more than 9-5 in healthcare.

Here you’ll find poems paired with photography and digital art. As well as newsletters, journals, and more. This will be your place to access my creativity in its whole.

Much Love all,
@Poeaxtry_
Axton N. O. Mitchell

About Poeaxtry_

The Brand and creative identity behind all Poeaxtry_ projects!

Poeaxtry_ is more than just a label and is much closer to a creative sanctuary. One where poetry meets activism, nature, and spirituality. Poeaxtry_ is rooted in truth and resilience. Channel the taboo intersections of identity, grief, and social justice into art & literature that challenges and heals.

Beyond his written words, Poeaxtry_ embraces a wide world of passions. I spend my time rock hounding and hiking the trails with Luna. I enjoy spiritual practices like tarot and pendulum readings and I craft spiritual items for sale, and more. Together, all these pieces make up the multi-faceted creations that define Poeaxtry_. Every item here reflects layered authenticity and a commitment to truth.

This space is a refuge for marginalized voices and a platform for honest storytelling. Poeaxtry_ refuses neutrality and embraces protest through creative resistance. Here we blend the mystical with the material and the personal with the political.

I dedicate every self-published book I have out ,and every book I will ever publish, to my mom. I would describe my mom as my biggest fan. The one who believed in me, and the reason I learned how to keep going even when it felt impossible. Honestly for most of my life it was just her and me against the world. I’d give anything to have her here with me even, for just a day.

The people behind the projects:

I also write for absence. For Jake my sperm donor, whom I literally fucking hate. I won’t give him the respect of calling him dad. Jake, who was never there. Every word, every page, every milestone I did it without you. And I’ll keep doing it, louder and prouder. The only thing you gave me, a personality disorder. Will be the thing that makes me, watch you’ll see.

This is for the trans kids and young adults who think they won’t make anything of themselves. You will. You already are. You’ve come this far! Coming out is a lot braver than you know. Just please stick around and see. If there’s something here for me then you too will have a destiny.

For my sisters, my motivation and the reason I always want to do better. I need to give you what our parents never did. I love you both more than words will ever tell.

I write for the transgender people gone to soon like Sam Nordquist. Who would still be here if not for blatant hate.

Much love,

Axton N. O. Mitchell

Empowering through accessible art and fearless advocacy

Art as Resistance and Accessibility:

My shop links and support options are included here. To offer easy access to the shops, donation options, and free downloads. I’m not going to tell you I don’t know the struggle of the starving artist. But, I will also never place a barrier between my art and those who need it.

Please email me @ Poeaxtry@gmail.com to discuss bartering or trading.

Breaking Barriers, Amplifying Voices and Visons, While prying open Paywalls

I want this space to stay rooted in the work itself, the words, the voices, the heart behind it all.
I stand firmly against the idea that art should only belong to those who can afford it.

As an anti-capitalist creator, I believe in art as a form of resistance. Art should be accessible, honesty, and healing.
Not as a luxury accessible to only those with enough commas in their banks.

Though we all know money makes the world turn, and as someone
working over 70 hours a week in healthcare.I also manage my own writing, publishing, and business.

I live that reality daily. I keep every e-book I offer priced as low as possible.
The most expensive title is $9.99 before tax.
My e-books are also available for free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.
I know even a few extra dollars can feel impossible. Between kids,
car repairs, unexpected bills, illness, or just the daily struggle to stay afloat shit gets tight.

Because of that, I offer my e-books for free to anyone who needs them in exchange for
honest reviews. Fill out this form to be a reviewer or email me @ poeaxtry@gmail.com with questions or concerns.

I believe in keeping art accessible, especially for minority voices and
those historically shut out of literary spaces.
Poetry should not belong only to those who can afford it.
While, actually it should belong to anyone who finds a piece of themselves inside it.

Free samples & free short collections are posted to be read on wattpadbooksie, and Quotev.
Or to be downloaded off gumroad and payhip.

  • Breaking Financial Barriers to literary access
  • Uplifting  Marginalized Voices often excluded from traditional publishing
  • Building Community through honest exchange of art and feedback
  • Challenging Capitalist Models of creative work
  • Creating Pathways for those who need poetry most

Much Love,

What we Stand For:

Values, Boundaries, and ZERO tolerance for bigotry.

Built on Care, Safety, and Truth:

This space was born from survival, built from grief, and shaped by fire.

It is not neutral. It is not passive.

It is a place for truth. Tenderness. This is growth that refuses to harm others on the way there.

Balance, Boundaries, & Bigotry- Poeaxtry’s Unpivital Position

Here are the things I will not tolerate in collaborations, submissions, or any space connected to Poeaxtry’s Poetry Prism. This applies whether it happens inside my community or in outside spaces I’m invited into. I do not separate my morals from my work. If you are a person who does these acts, I have no space for you. This applies to any aspect of my life.

Deal breakers:

(Submissions, creative projects, and affiliations that involve any of the below will be declined or removed.)

Racism, colorist, or xenophobia including Islamophobia, anti-immigrant hate, and dehumanization of Palestinians or those supporting Gaza

Transphobia, homophobia, or queer erasure

Ableism or mocking of mental illness or disability

Misogyny, toxic masculinity, or gender-based violence

Fatphobia or body shaming

White saviorism or trauma exploitation for aesthetics

AI-generated creative writing or art passed off as human-made

Plagiarism, stolen work, or dishonesty Cultural appropriation

Religious extremism that dehumanizes others

Hate speech, slurs, threats, or dehumanization of any kind

Classism and creative elitism — shaming those without formal education, access, or resources

Tokenism or performative inclusion — using marginalized creators for optics without structural care or support

Cultural appropriation or artistic theft from communities not your own

Environmental exploitation when it dismisses Indigenous land, natural destruction, or extractive practices

Slut shaming: we honor sensuality, sex work, erotic expression, and intimacy as valid forms of art and storytelling. They become survival and poetry only when rooted in truth and not exploitation.

Consent is non-negotiable! Romantic, sexual, and emotional boundaries, must be honored.

What we want to see is :

Work that’s vulnerable, imperfect, and real

Messy beauty — grief, rage, joy, healing, contradiction

Intersectional justice and lived experience

Creators who lead with empathy, humility, and care

Submissions from BIPOC, trans & nonbinary, disabled, neurodivergent, and working-class artists

Constructive critique rooted in consent Transparency, mutual respect, and protection of creative integrity

If you’re here to share your truth and hold space for others

This isn’t just art. It’s community.

you are welcome, exactly as you are.

This includes external organizations, publishers, or communities whose values do not align.

Even if a platform, person, or group is not part of this space, I will not partner with them. I will not join if they are actively harmful. My ethics don’t pause at the page.

Any party having issue with this need not apply to create with or in the space of Axton N. O. Mitchell @ poeaxtry_

We have denied partnerships and collaborations from authors who have defended terfs publicly.

If you silently turn a blind eye to hate and phobias we can’t work with you.

We offer priority visibility to all minorities including but not limited to (and in no order) individuals who are:
disabled, neurodivergent, BIPOC (other racial or ethnic minorities), impoverished (economic and social), migrants, immigrants, felons, LGBT individuals, religious minorities, sex workers, abuse survivors, elderly, plus sized (fatphobia resistance), and more

Submissions violating these simple yet ethical guidelines will be removed without response. The submitter will be added to a ‘DO NOT partner with’ list. Our time and space are sacred, so respect is a must.

Much Love,
Axton N.O. Mitchell

Poeaxtry Joins Safe space alliance

As a whole Poeaxtry is dedicated to amplifying all minority voices and experiences through literature, art, and creativity. This is not silent agreeable advocacy. It is a commitment to care, visibility, and action. By joining the Safe Space Alliance, Poeaxtry solidifies our stance with LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide. As a transgender man, it’s important to me to continue to foster spaces where identity, expression, and safety are honored. Find out here what this means , how to get involved, and what’s going on globally with SSA.

To put these values into practice, Poeaxtry has created “The Prism” (aka Poeaxtry’s Poetry Prism).
A digital sanctuary for poets, artists, and advocates. Built for connection, collaboration, contest, community,
and fearless self-expression. This is a queer-affirming (inclusive of all minorities) space.
Here creativity and safety coexist. Launched alongside my inclusive, independent publishing company
dedicated to uplifting the literature, art, and creative projects of marginalized communities.
Now available across Discord, Revolt, and Twitch. The Prism meets people where they are.
Offering a flexible, inclusive environment. To get involved in without being forced into any
single platform, or a single creative medium.

Solidifying Saftey in Skillfully-Creative Spaces

Built on care, safety, and truth, Poeaxtry’s commitment to inclusion extends beyond art.
This is an act of protection and persistence.
We joined the Safe Space Alliance (SSA), a global LGBTQIA+ nonprofit. It connects and supports verified safe spaces worldwide. By doing so, we strengthen our dedication to creating safer, visible, and accessible spaces for all.

Here, safety is not a symbol, it is sustained practice.
Our verified website and Discord hub uphold zero tolerance for bigotry. Our safe spaces uphold clear accessibility standards. We respect every identity and pronoun.

Joining SSA means standing beside thousands of spaces across the world that protect and uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals. Through this alliance, you can:

— Get involved by listing your own safe space (digital, physical, or creative).
— Learn more about global SSA projects and current initiatives.
— Support advocacy through volunteering, partnership, or donation.

Every connection we make, whether it is through a poem, a post, or a shared moment, is important. It becomes a part of a larger global fabric of care.
Together, we’re shaping a creative world where:
identity, safety, and art coexist without compromise.

The Prism supports every step of your creative journey. Writers, visual artists, and other creators can share work,
